Aqua Sphere Beach Walker XP (€ 24.99, really cheap to expensive NIKE Free)Took the previously blogged SPIEGEL-article about evolutionary medical aspects on raging 21th century’s health problems as an inspiration to recover my diving shoes from oblivion for a run which I bought 2 years ago because of the fact, that they would fit perfectly for free running issues. According to loads of tests in running and trekking magazines the Aqua Sphere “Beachwalkers” are a cheap and substantial alternative to the Nike Free (99€).Although I think the “Beachwalkers” would work much better on dirt tracks (softer soil) due to their thin sole. But also with these shoes, after a 3/4h run on Berlin’s cobblestones, I have to admit a very awesome and intense feeling with a grip I’ve never realised before (also stunted (foot-) muscle groups are addressed). Much more interesting than regular jogging! After 4 runs, getting into my Asics Nimbus (160€) it felt like running in prostheses. Resulting from its high cushioning level I could hardly feel anything in the feet, which still turned numb in the end of the run. -> absolutely contrary to the news from the SPIEGEL-article about evolutionary medicine.Concerning the high weight on the joints during a run on asphalt streets I finally rather went for Nike’s “NIKE Free” and ordered them today. Lots of runners blogs people say, they would use “NIKE Free” not only for feet muscle training but rather for every run and would never again exercise without them — even the guys running with foot orthotics for years — like me. Those never need any orthotics again!Remains to be seen…Keep you updated!
